Until March 2001, the  Pensioners of State Bank of India residing  in  Kerala  were  members of   SBI Pensioners’ Association  (Madras Circle).   With  the  formation of a separate Circle for the  Bank’s  229 branches in Kerala, it was felt that the Pensioners based in Kerala should also have a separate organisation to look after their  interests and  accordingly,  at  a  meeting  of  pensioners  from Trivandrum, Ernakulam and Calicut, an Ad-hoc Committee was formed to initiate preliminary steps for the formation of an independent Association in Kerala. The Ad-hoc Committee met at Ernakulam on 03.03.2001 and after elaborate deliberations,  decided that the Registered Office of the Association shall be at Ernakulam and adopted  suitable draft Bye-Laws for the purpose.  The body nominated a Committee comprising of a President, General Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and three Members and authorized the nominated General Secretary Shri A K Menon to arrange for the registration of the State Bank of India   Pensioners’   Association  (Kerala)   under   the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific & Charitable Societies Registration Act 12 of 1955.  Within a very short period, we could obtain the necessary registration.   Accordingly, the Association was established on 25-04-2001 with registration No.ER/450/2001 and commenced functioning with 241 members transferred from Madras Circle.  The present membership is almost 2000.
